The New Green Economy Is Coming

It's About Time!

by Rebbecca Rayna Wright

Recently, I stopped into my local book seller and happened along only to stumble upon a table with a most ubiquitous sign stating "Thought Provoking." And there, displayed before my eyes was a title that caught my eye. The book, The Green Collar Economy, jumped out at me. Upon scowering it's introduction, right away I knew that the author Van Jones was onto something. Basically, he was stating that we must solve our current economic orientation based upon burning fossil fuels and move on to a society with an economy based on renewable energy sources. With all levels of government getting involved, jobs will be created on mass scale for all to create the new green economy. Thus, in the process, giving work to those who need it and at the same time solving our current environmental crisis. All areas being neglected now would change such as our conventional farming practices to an organically based agricultural system. Solar, wind, geothermal, and other infrastructures will be built in mass to create a great electrical producing system. Slowly, the air and water will clear and our world will become a sustainable one. Immediately, I saw the vision. It is very strong with me now. With a new era about to occur, I'm going to fully participate in it. This man, Van Jones, and his vision - will become a reality!

What Will You Be Doing If You Go Green?

Learning To Walk The Talk

By Rhonda Washington

Really now, what will I start changing in my life if I become "green"? That's the first question, I think. I guess I'll start thinking about what I do everyday. Kinda like, what am I doing each day with my life? How do I waste things? How do I pollute the world? How do I recycle things? How do I reuse things instead of giving them the quick toss? Where can I reduce my consumption of electricity, water, and natural gas, etc? When will I get the real facts about harmful things going on all over the planet? Who else can I learn from? And above all, why am I doing the things that I am doing? And finally, what is my government at the highest level doing to make the world more green?

>I'm a little foggy about all this, however I am learning . . . If you have any opinions or comments, I'd love to hear them.
